I am been thinking lately of what people I enjoy working with. There seems to be a continual pattern I see of those who don’t feel confident and have been beaten down with life events and negative self-judgments. As a result, I am led to carve out my niche around confidence building. I want to be an encourager for people to fully walk in their God-given uniqueness.  By helping those boost their inner confidence, we can overcome about anything that is blocking us from accomplishing our goals. I have heard it said, teach what you most want to learn.I can always learn more about building my own confidence.

I read some statistics recently that I thought were staggering:

  • 20% of teens/tweens will experience depression before they reach adulthood
  • Approximately 91 percent of women are unhappy with their bodies and resort to dieting to achieve their ideal body shape. Unfortunately, only 5 percent of women naturally possess the body type often portrayed by Americans in the media.
  • 85% of the world’s population are affected by low self esteem. This is from The self esteem book of Dr Joe Rubino

Self-esteem issues can create a continual state of fear resulting in a fight or flight cycle. When we feel like we don’t have the competency to overcome obstacles, we may fall into anxiety and patterns of discouragement. Over time this cycle can create an imbalance in our glandular system later leading to immune dysfunction and disease. Statistics show that 60% of the things we fear will never take place. But somehow we don’t feel we can combat those thoughts that keep flooding through our minds on a regular basis.

I have acquired some tools to help people clear out those mindsets that result from inner programming. It’s important to dig into the roots of where we first began to form beliefs about how we see ourselves. Mostly it comes through our early formative years. Much of this is unconscious and hard to uncover. I have found some creative ways to access this information. I believe I have the tools to help identify where those thoughts have originated. Just putting affirmations in on a regular basis becomes work and our subconscious mind may try to fight it.

Tips for confidence building:

  • practice an intention of focusing on what we value in ourselves.
  • practice gratitude statements each day.
  • learn to listen to our self-talk and dispute those negative thoughts daily.
  • find support from people that value you.

This can start the process rolling and bring you more contentment each day.
