Through the years I have been drawn to methods that will get to the root to eliminate negative emotions with a particular issue. One of these techniques that I learned is EFT which stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. It took me awhile to see the validity of this method as it seemed too easy and simplistic.  After using it for awhile I began to see the amazing results not only in myself but in others.

EFT is a form of psychological acupressure that uses a gentle tapping technique instead of needles. I like to describe it as emotional acupuncture. The tapping on the designated points on the face and body is combined with verbalizing the identified problem. The issue you are tapping on then is followed by a general affirmation phrase. Combining these ingredients of the EFT technique balances the energy system and appears to relieve anything related to psychological stress and/or physical pain.

I have seen it successful at relieving emotional eating problems, fears of speaking and phobias, past traumas, stress and pain. I am diligent when using this technique toward getting to the deeper emotional roots that may need to be cleared. When something intense comes up in the present it typically can be triggering a much older event. I many times combine applied Kinesiology to see what emotion is stored from the past. So for instance if someone has reoccurring headaches at work, it may be with a boss that resembles their old stored emotions involving their Dad.

So if you are struggling with a particular issue that occurs regularly and feels insurmountable, the EFT process can be a great tool. What’s unique about this method is that you can practice it with yourself. After you learn how to tap on the points, you can design your own statements that support how you feel.

The key is being able to clear it out entirely, so it doesn’t keep coming back. We rate where you are and when it gets down to a zero in intensity, you are done with that issue. This is another tool in my psychological gardening box. I like to compare it to a cactus plant, when thorns are pulled out, it won’t grow back. You don’t have to keep affirming yourself regularly.. it may come more naturally.

It may be time to start opening up your mind to these cutting edge methods that will bring you into a more peaceful life.
