People need to help overcome anxiety by feeling confident in their own skin. When I work with clients  on their inner beliefs I usually observe some faulty ones. These distortions don’t support them feeling good. People tend to be negative about themselves leading to a performance trap. Summer is a great time to view your relationship with yourself and your limitations. You will prohibit the positive feelings toward yourself when you’re too much of a perfectionist. For example, you might be disappointed with yourself when you fail; therefore, you might be unable to promote yourself successfully in your business. Addictive behavior such as eating too much, over exercising, and striving too hard can keep you on an emotional treadmill.  This behavior can medicate the inner shame and “not good enough feelings.” Your true essence is the real inner YOU before being programmed through your years. Your goal is to try to recapture that and live more true to that original blueprint. The Enneagram is a great assessment tool of how you have learned self-protective strategies to live by.  Richard Rohr’s book, The Enneagram: A Christian Perspective is a great way to discover the different personalities of the Enneagram and where you may fall.   If your tendency is to avoid yourself, due to failure to look inside, you have to begin facing yourself.  You have to begin looking at those inner parts of yourself that are incongruent with your God-given design. Then you are able to let go of addictive behavior that is controlling you. Tips on Learning to Build Inner Confidence: • Accept yourself just as you are, flaws and all… “What you resist persist”. • Discover ways to acknowledge what strengths you bring to others. • Explore ways to practice more loving statements to yourself each day. • Resist letting others’ opinion control you…why do you really care what others think? • Rid yourself of negative programming that fights promoting yourself. • Find affirmative statements that you can anchor yourself in. • Practice heart math exercise that will reduce anxiety to bring in more love and appreciation for yourself.
