Woman self-sabotagingResearch shows that 40% of the people write New Years resolutions, but only 8% actually achieve their goals. What I believe is that we procrastinate on achieving them due to conscious and unconscious patterns.

Self-sabotage is a common cause for people not being able to accomplish the goals they have set in place. If you are feeling frustrated because the very thing you want to do is not happening, it may be because your subconscious is fighting it since it can dictate about 95% of our behavior! If we are going around with beliefs like “If I succeed, more will be expected of me and I can’t keep that up” or “I want to lose weight, but somehow I am afraid of attracting the opposite sex to me” you may be sabotaging yourself. It may be time to get to the root of this pattern.

Many people procrastinate when they feel resentful or angry and aren’t releasing these feelings and forgiving. While they may feel resentful towards someone else, they are obviously taking their feelings out on themselves by blocking their own success. The vibrations of resentment and anger definitely limit making forward movement.

Other people procrastinate because they don’t believe in themselves, feel reluctant to get started, or are afraid to put the “pedal to the metal” so to speak…What if they move forward and they really aren’t any good? What if success really isn’t the answer? What if someone else ridicules them or is intimidated by them for their achievements or efforts? What if they have to give up their story of being mediocre?

The key is to recognize the behavior, name it and then treat it head on. When we procrastinate, we appear to have an inability to move forward despite wanting it. We develop an expertise at finding something else to do instead of what we need to do! When we learn some to get to the feelings and conflicts underneath the procrastination, our behavior and manifestations will inevitably improve.

Before clearing something subconscious we might explore:

1. What is the DOWNSIDE of moving forward?
2. Why don’t you feel safe moving ahead?
3. What would happen if you stopped procrastinating?
4. How would your relationships change if you stopped withdrawing?

freedomTips for moving into 2014 more successfully:

  •  Ask yourself, what the are three most important things I need to do today that will help me create the success I desire?  Then tune out all of the distractions and focus on these actions.
  • Instead of being disappointed about where you are, think optimistically about where you are going.
  • Implement the No Complaining Rule. Remember that complaining is like vomiting. Afterwards you feel better but everyone around you feel sick. www.NoComplainingRule.com
  • Release the counterproductive self-talk that may degrade you and turn it into productive ones.
  • Raise your deserve level by focusing on your value you bring to your work or others.
  •  Focus on “get to” vs. “have to.” Each day focus on what you get to do, not what you have to do.  Life is a gift, not an obligation.
  • Most importantly, ask yourself these four questions above and discover what you are really fearful of.

Make this 2014 your best year for moving forward!
